New District Configuration for 2019-20

New District Configuration for 2019-20 School Year

September 2019 marks the opening of the new Endeavour Elementary School in the Falcons Court North section on Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst. Because this new school is on federal property, it was constructed via a grant from the Department of Defense. We are fortunate and excited to open this beautiful new school and to access all it has to offer for our students!

Atlantis School and Discovery School will both be closed and demolished as part of this project. This will lead to redistricting of students aligned to the new district configuration. It will also lead to 2 years of renovations and safety and security upgrades to CB Lamb School. This summer, classrooms at CB Lamb will be renovated to accommodate preschool students. Additional work in other parts of the building will continue through the school year and into the summer of 2020. In order to safely and efficiently complete that work, we will have to close down part of CB Lamb School for one year for construction purposes. This will allow for the complete separation of students and construction activity, ensuring a safe and secure learning environment for children.

Therefore, with a few specialized program exceptions, students will be assigned to school buildings as follows for the 2019-2020 school year:

  • Endeavour School: PreK3 - 4th grade students who reside on JB-MDL
  • CB Lamb Elementary School: PreK3 - 3rd grade students who reside in North Hanover Township
  • Upper Elementary School: 4th grade students who reside in North Hanover Twp., temporary for 2019-20
  • Upper Elementary School: All students grades 5 and 6

Some specialized programming that serves smaller numbers of students from both JB-MDL and the Township of North Hanover will be centralized to one particular building or another. Parents of students to whom this is applicable will be notified of their child's building assignment.

All programs will be full day. Pre-K programs will run approximately 8:30 am-2:30 pm. Grades K-6 will run approximately 8:00 am-2:45 pm.  Exact school times will be announced when transportation routes are finalized. We will continue to provide transportation for all students to all three schools.

Additionally, we have partnered with the YMCA to provide fee-based before and after care to our students in preschool through grade 6 at CB Lamb/UES, and for our preschool students at Endeavour. Kindergarten students at Endeavour will continue to receive wraparound care at the CDC, and those in grades 1-4 will continue to utilize the Youth Center/SAS. A parent Question and Answer session is being scheduled for Thursday, May 16 at 6:30 pm in the auditorium of the Upper Elementary School. During this session we will provide information and can answer questions about construction projects, redistricting and wraparound care. We look forward to seeing you there!
