Sara Voza found her passion for special education while in high school through her work with a Special Olympics swim team which she volunteered with and while doing an internship in a high school in the special education classroom. She enjoyed working with the students and in both settings and decided to attend Kean University to get her bachelor's degree in special education and elementary education. Upon graduation Sara began working at Burlington County Special Services School District as a Teacher's assistant in an autism classroom where she began to learn the basic principles of ABA. A year and half after Sara started working at BCSSSD she went back to school to get her Masters degree in special education in Mild to Moderate disabilities from Purdue University. After two years as a teachers assistant Sara moved up to have her own classroom as a special education teacher for the Autism ABA program. Here she began to learn more ABA principles for working with those with behavioral needs and worked closely with her BCBA’s to create behavior intervention plans to decrease maladaptive behaviors. In the past Sara has worked with those in the special education community outside of the classroom through teaching private swim lessons, coordinating a summer camp, and providing home respite care.
Sara began working with the North Hanover District in November of 2023. She is now working outside of the classroom and using her experience to assist students with behavior needs by supporting the classroom teachers. She works primarily with the students and teachers at UES and CBL to create plans for those who need it and to provide teachers with strategies to address behavioral issues in the classroom.
In her free time Sara likes to read, watch movies, and hang out with her dogs and partner. She enjoys going camping, hiking, and traveling when she has the time.
